The minimalist, conceptual, constructivist, Sol Lewitt has passed. Although best known for his cubist constructions, his work was also influenced by color field theory although he frequently took this approach one step farther by painting directly on the musuem walls, thus forcing the patrons to experience without having an opportunity to purchase the work. The next time you're in Vilnius, paying homage to Frank Zappa, seeing the warehouse tomb of Lenin statues, or visiting the KGB musuem, take the short drive (or the bus) out to this open-air sculpture park. You won't be disappointed.
